Girvin Devitt

Girvin Devitt has been practicing law in Peterborough, Ontario and the surrounding area since being called to the bar in 1975. Girvin first took an interest in the law during university. He earned his undergraduate degree at McMaster University, and completed his formal law degree at Osgoode Hall in Toronto.

 

Girvin opened his legal practice on Chemong Road in Peterborough, Ontario, followed quickly by a satellite office in Bridgenorth. Over the years he has consolidated his legal practice to the main office on Chemong Road in order to be as accessible as possible and provide the best service for all his clients in the Greater Peterborough area.

Girvin’s practice encompasses a broad range of matters. He provides efficient and cost-effective service for his clients in a wide variety of areas including; real estate, wills & estates, and corporate and  business law.

Girvin believes clarity is the key to excellent legal service. He provides clear, practical advice; simplifying complex matters, and helping each client fully understand the legal processes and options they face.

Girvin is very active in both the legal profession and the local community. He has volunteered his skills and experience for many not-for-profit organizations over the years, including; the Bridgenorth-Ennismore-Lakefield (BEL) Rotary Club, Arbour Theatre Peterborough, Westdale United Church, Scouts Canada, and more.

Girvin Devitt, or ‘Girv’ as he is known by friends and family, has set down deep roots in Peterborough. He and his wife Cheryl raised their three children; John, Annie, and Amanda, providing plenty of personal practice with his lawyer skills! Girvin has helped his now grown children navigate through some of life’s biggest legal milestones, recognizing these times can be highly stressful and highly emotional. He provides practical and fair legal advice customized to each client’s needs, to help you too navigate challenging times.
